This guide explains how to get from Marrakech to Agadir by bus, rental car or private transfer, with travel times, approximate prices and tips β including what to know if you are heading to Taghazout, Tamraght or Agadir Airport.

Almost all traffic uses the A7 motorway, a toll road that crosses the plains west of Marrakech, then climbs through the foothills of the High Atlas before descending towards the Souss plain and the Atlantic coast.
The mountain section is the most scenic part of the trip, with wide views of red hills and argan trees. Service areas along the motorway offer fuel, cafΓ©s and toilets, so a short break halfway is easy.
The Marrakech to Agadir bus is one of the busiest routes in Morocco. CTM and Supratours run frequent departures throughout the day, with comfortable air-conditioned coaches.
Best for: solo travellers and budget trips with flexible timing.
Driving yourself is simple: the motorway is in good condition and the journey takes around 2 hours 45 minutes to 3 hours without long stops. Keep cash for the toll booths and respect speed limits β police radar checks are common on Moroccan roads.
A car makes sense if you plan to explore the coast after Agadir, for example Taghazout, Imsouane or Essaouira. If you are only travelling between the two cities, parking, fuel and tolls can make it less convenient than a transfer.
Best for: confident drivers planning a road trip along the coast.
A private transfer from Marrakech to Agadir picks you up at your riad or hotel and drives you directly to your address in Agadir, Taghazout or Tamraght β no bus station, no last-mile taxi and no waiting.
Best for: families, groups, surfers with gear and anyone who wants a stress-free journey.
