The road from Marrakech to Imlil, stage by stage

The drive is short but changes quickly: plains, a gorge, then a mountain road. Expect about 1 hour 30 minutes without stops.

Price by group size

Prices are per vehicle, not per person, and fixed when you book. Backpacks and trekking gear are included. The price is the same from Marrakech Airport.

Arriving in Imlil

Cars stop in Imlil village. Many guesthouses, and the trail to Aremd and Toubkal, are higher up the valley and reached on foot. Tell us the name of your guesthouse when you book: most send someone to meet you, and mules can carry your luggage for a small fee paid locally.

Starting a Toubkal trek?

• Leave early: trekkers usually leave Marrakech between 7:00 and 8:00 to start walking from Imlil in the morning.
• Mountain guide: treks to Toubkal are done with a licensed mountain guide, booked separately. Our driver can drop you where you meet your guide.
• The way back: book the return transfer with your expected finish time. We adjust if the trek ends earlier or later.

Shared taxi or private taxi?

• Shared grand taxi: cheap, but usually means a taxi from Marrakech to Asni, then a second one from Asni to Imlil, each leaving only when full.
• Private taxi or transfer (from €50 per car): door to door, at the time you choose, with space for gear and a stop on the way if you need supplies.

Winter and weather

Imlil is much colder than Marrakech, especially at night, and snow is common on the peaks in winter. The road to Imlil is normally open all year; after heavy snow we check conditions and contact you if a departure needs to move.
