Marrakech to Taghazout – Bus, Taxi or Private Transfer?

Taghazout and Tamraght are Morocco's surf villages, about three hours from Marrakech. You can get there by bus with a change in Agadir, or by private transfer straight to your surf camp. Here is how each option works, how long it takes and what it really costs.

Marrakech to Taghazout at a Glance

The distance is about 255 km. Most of it is on the A7 motorway between Marrakech and Agadir, then a short coastal road north to Tamraght and Taghazout. Bus fares change from time to time, so treat them as a guide.

By Bus: Cheap, but With a Change in Agadir

There is no direct coach from Marrakech to Taghazout. The usual route has three steps:

1. Marrakech to Agadir by coach: CTM and Supratours run several departures a day. The trip takes about 3 to 3.5 hours and costs roughly €10–15 per person, plus a small fee for big luggage.
2. Agadir bus station to the coast: take a taxi (around 150 MAD to Taghazout if you agree the price first) or a city bus to the centre.
3. Local bus 32 or 33 runs from Agadir along the coast to Tamraght and Taghazout for a few dirhams. There is no fixed timetable, and the buses can be crowded.

Counting the connections, the whole trip usually takes about 5 hours. It works well for a solo traveller with a backpack, less so with a surfboard bag, several suitcases or a late arrival.

By Private Transfer: Straight to Your Surf Camp

A private transfer from Marrakech to Taghazout picks you up at your riad, hotel or Marrakech Airport and drops you at the door of your surf camp, hostel or hotel. The drive takes about 3 hours, with a stop whenever you want.

The price is the same from Marrakech Airport and from the city, motorway tolls are included, and surfboards travel free. For four surfers sharing an SUV, that is under €34 each — not far from the cost of the bus once you add taxis at both ends.

Taghazout, Tamraght or Aourir?

The surf coast north of Agadir is a string of villages a few minutes apart:

• Taghazout: the best-known surf village, with famous point breaks such as Anchor Point, plus Taghazout Bay and its resort hotels just to the south.
• Tamraght: quieter, with many surf camps and beginner-friendly beaches.
• Aourir (Banana Village): closest to Agadir, with local cafés and the Paradise Valley road.

Flying In? Agadir May Be Closer
