About This Excursion

Ourika Valley & Atlas Mountains

Ourika Valley is the closest mountain escape from Marrakech — a green, fertile valley carved by the Ourika River in the foothills of the High Atlas, lined with Berber villages whose terraced fields climb the red-ochre slopes.

This private day trip follows the river up the valley, with stops in traditional villages and at a women-run argan oil cooperative. You then reach Setti Fatma, the last village on the road, known for its series of waterfalls. Walk up to the first cascade with a local guide or stay by the water, before lunch at a riverside restaurant with the mountains all around.

With a short drive and plenty of fresh air, it is the easiest way to see real Atlas scenery and Berber village life on a shorter stay. Only need a ride? Book a private transfer from Marrakech to Ourika. Comparing options? See our best day trips from Marrakech.
