Private Excursion · Morocco
Morocco's highest waterfalls, wild Barbary macaques and a tagine lunch above the gorge — a private day trip from Marrakech.
About This Excursion
The Ouzoud Falls are the highest waterfalls in Morocco, cascading about 110 metres in several tiers down red cliffs into the gorge of the El Abid river. Set in the foothills of the Middle Atlas, about 150 km from Marrakech, they are surrounded by olive groves, fig trees and green terraces — a striking contrast to the dry plains around the city.
This private day trip takes you to the viewpoints above the falls, then down a path lined with old mills and small cafés to the base of the cascades, where you can take a short boat ride towards the spray or swim in summer. Along the trails, look out for the wild Barbary macaques that live in the gorge.
After a traditional tagine lunch with views over the falls, you drive back to Marrakech. It is a long day, with around 2.5 to 3 hours of driving each way, but one of the most rewarding nature trips from the city. Comparing options? See the best day trips from Marrakech.
